7 weeks to Ironman

Shoowee, a big week in the bag – sore glutes and arms to show for it and a weary, weary body as I write this week’s update. Add a couple of training sessions in a heat wave and me shouting, “Bring on next week’s recovery week” and that pretty much sums up where I’m at..My body is coping remarkably well with shorter and shorter recovery times after long sessions. Even better, a fantastic long run has calmed my fears and my run/walk routine worked perfectly. Segmenting the run and rewarding myself with brief walks re-energised me and made the run the most enjoyable I’ve had to date.

A ‘half-Ironman


‘ is scheduled for this weekend and the fears that were present for Jailbreak are nowhere to be seen. A testament to a well thought out training plan.
